Mission

Two decades have passed since Iraq invaded Kuwait. The oil fires are long gone, skies are clear, fish are plentiful, new and restored buildings gleam in the sun, business is back to normal – and memories are fading.
This website aims to restore those memories and to expose the destruction wrought by the invaders to those partly or wholly unaware of the events of 1990-1991.
Gleaned from a collection of 15,000, the more than 1,200 photos presented here are an eyewitness account of a dark episode in world history. They share the author’s emotion at returning home to a ravaged nation. They are a tribute to the endurance and resilience of the Kuwaitis.
Most of all, they are a warning, to people of all nations, of the brutality that war and invasion can unleash.
